According to Hart Michael, in the 100, A ranking of the most influential persons in history:
“My choice of prophet Muhammad (PBUH) to lead the list of the world’s most influential persons may surprise some readers and be questioned by others, but he was the only man in history who was supremely successful on both the religious and secular level”.
Celebrating Eid Milan-u-Nabi (SAW) 1445 Hijri reminds us to align our individual and collective lives with his teachings. Prophet Muhammad (SAW) is revered for his virtuous nature and his ability to offer comfort to the vulnerable. He taught the values of peace, brotherhood, respect for humanity, equality, forgiveness, and justice. The Seerah is the life story of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) before and after revelation. He is considered God's messenger and an exemplary figure of human behaviour and noble character for all walks of life including:
Individuals Diplomats Educators
Military strategist Peacemakers
Our society has unfortunately declined due to our collective neglect of the teachings of our beloved Prophet (PBUH). Intolerance is a major social evil that has caused conflicts, murders, and ill intentions towards one another, resulting in much suffering in our society. To overcome these issues, we must look to the personality of PBUH, who exemplifies mercy even in the face of rudeness. For instance, when an old woman had thrown garbage at the prophet on a daily basis one day she found out of habit He visited her and greeted her kindly. Additionally, during the conquest of Mecca, Muhammad(SAW) acted as a peacemaker and resolved issues between Muslims and Quraysh through a peaceful treaty of Huddaibia. As a result, they were allowed to visit pilgrims to perform Haj and Umrah. Let us strive towards creating a better world to live in by following the example of our beloved (PBUH).
The books of Seerah and Hadith are replete with expressions of love and devotion for the family of the Prophet. The wives of the Prophet were affectionately referred to as the mothers of the Muslims. Hazrat Khadija (R.A) was the first woman to become his wife and was a valued companion - a lady of great worth. Her passing was marked with mourning during the year known as ‘Amul-u-l Huzn.’
“fear Allah in respect of women”.(Hadith)
“The best you are they who behave best to their wives”.(Hadith)
Treating children with disregard is one of our most heinous crimes. According to a hadith, a man once bragged to the Noble Messenger that he had never kissed any of his many children. The Holy Prophet scolded him, stating that those who do not show compassion towards their children will not receive any themselves.
As human beings, we should observe the patterns of family unity as demonstrated by the Prophet and his wives. By abandoning traditional practices and adopting his way of life, we can focus on his superior morals, good habits, and noble and gentle nature. Following his example, or 'Sunnah', can eliminate oppression, mistreatment, and unrest in society. Celebrating Eid Milan-u-Nabi (SAW) reminds us to align our individual and collective lives with his teachings.
It's worrying how minorities are mistreated in society, despite regular religious rituals. We should look deeper into the meaning behind these rituals to purify ourselves and submit to divine will. Prophethood is supposed to teach wisdom and purify people, but we're falling short of these ideals. During these tough times, the Holy Quran and the Noble Messenger can offer guidance and light to dispel darkness. We must stand against oppression and start with self-accountability to reform not just ourselves but our homes, families, and society as a whole.
