United Nations a world meeting forum created immediately after World War II on 24 October 1945. The basic purpose of saving succeeding generations from the scourge of war narrated in the first Article of the UN Charter keywords are:
Ø To maintain international peace and security
Ø To take effective collective measures for the prevention and removal of threats to the peace, and for the suppression of acts of aggression.
Ø To develop friendly relations among nations based on equal rights and self-determination
To take appropriate measures to strengthen universal peace.
To achieve cooperation in solving international problems social, cultural humanitarian characters.
There are six official languages spoken to communicate for this purpose:
English, French, Chinese, Russian, Spanish, Arabic
And six Principal Organs:
Ø General Assembly
Ø Security Council
Ø International Court of Justice
Ø Economic and Social Council
Ø Trusteeship Council
Ø Secretariat
Security Council
The most powerful organ among all it particularly addresses the Security
The council was created to address threats to international peace and security. It comprises in total of 15 member states divided like this:
Permanent
Non Permanent
Five Permanent Member States
China, France, Russia, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
Ten Non-Permanent
Rotating members are selected on a regional basis by the General Assembly. Thus Africa has three non-permanent seats, the Asia-Pacific region has three seats, Latin America and the Caribbean have two seats, and so on. Under most circumstances, the Security Council is the only UN body that has the power to enforce its decisions. All other UN bodies' decisions are merely recommendations to the Member States. That’s why it is called the icon of the UN.
Now look at the question to be discussed about it
What is the Veto power?
And
How does It work and has Failed to deliver humanitarian crises around the world?
Briefly, we mention the history, According to an Aljazeera TV report many times in the past the United States has backed up Israel at the United Nations. In 1972 the first veto on Palestine at the Security Council blocked 35 UN resolutions critical of Israel two out of these had been during the ongoing war on Gaza 47 including the Israel invasion of the lab as well his occupation of Syria's Golan Heights.
How it Works?
The decision of the Council requires at least 9 of the 15 states on the Council to vote in favour of a proposal. Article 23 of the UN Charter establishes the requirement for Great Power Unanimity, meaning that the five permanent Members of the Council can veto any resolution under consideration by the Council by voting against it.
The Permanent Five members of the Security Council were established and granted veto power, meaning their single negative vote carries the power to reject a resolution. So you have Russia and China sort of on one side, and you have France, the UK, and the United States on the other. So it’s kind of the West versus the rest, and that’s how it’s been organized.
The Presidency of the Council rotates between the Member States, with each Council Member holding the rotating presidency for a month before the
position is passed to the next state in line.
Functions and Powers
To maintain international peace and security the principles and purposes of the United Nations.
To investigate any dispute or situation which might lead to international friction.
To recommend methods of adjusting such disputes or the terms of settlement to formulate plans for the establishment of a system to regulate armaments.
To determine the existence of a threat to the peace or act of aggression and to recommend what action should be taken.
To call on Members to apply economic sanctions and other measures not involving the use of force to prevent or stop aggression.
But there is a hell of a difference between expectations and reality, images illustrate the story of Gaza.

It has done all various times of conflicts that have happened hundreds of times since the Council was founded, often in cases where that state has been accused of advancing its own political interests in the face of global crises. It’s like a club, so the people who are the most powerful members of the club, they make the rules.
They’ve used their veto power more times than any other P5 member. Most recently, the ally of the Syrian regime has used its veto power 12 times on draft resolutions concerning the Syrian civil war.
That includes drafts that would have allowed chemical weapons investigations, imposed sanctions, and referred Syria to the International Criminal Court. More than 400,000 people have died as a result of the conflict in Syria since 2011.
It is not the only case before this, China has vetoed several measures that lent legitimacy to Taiwan’s independence, which China doesn’t recognize.
The kind of underlying issue is that every country in the Security Council is there to protect human interests and the interests of humanity as a whole. But they tend to protect their own national interests. So the humanitarian or the human consequence of these big powers playing politics is what we see in Syria. Russia has similarly exercised its veto power to protect its interests around Ukraine and Crimea.
The Aljazeera report reflects the point of view of the US ambassador to the United Nations although she admits the brutal fact of the Palestine war their support is solo for Israel's military and the masses.
“Disappointed this resolution made no mention of Israel's rights of self-defence like every nation in the world Israel has the inherent right of self-defence as reflected in article 51 of the UN Charter following previous terrorist attacks by groups such as Al-Qaeda and ISIS this Council reaffirms that right this text should have done the same though we could not support this resolution going forward.”(Aljazeera)
Simultaneously she narrates about the humanitarian crisis in Gaza:
Food medicine water and fuel must begin flowing into Gaza as soon as possible. The families the elderly and children are in dire need let's be clear hamas's own actions have brought this severe humanitarian crisis in Gaza and Hamas has caused so much needless suffering death and destruction every member State Should condemn Hamas's terrorism and cruelty and every member State should call on Hamas to cease its endless barrage of rockets against Israel.
The same day the Muslim world gathered at the OIC platform to resolve the intense conditions in Gaza and requested the world to come in for Palestinians. Hopefully, the world leader halts the ongoing tension but unfortunately it is the failure of the authorities does not reach any end a big anticlimax here after several days of intense negotiations to try to come up with something that the UN said was needed for these supplies into Gaza uh and alas no no resolution no resolution but Christen then what happens now now to all of this diplomatic.
