At home in Palestine Yasser Arafat died and Mehmood Abbas took the throne of the Palestinian Authority. For a short time, Israel called back all Jewish settlers and its troops while maintaining the hold over airspace, ports and border crossings.
2006 Hamas, a militant group in Palestine, won the majority in the parliamentary elections by defeating the previous ruling majority, 'Fatah'. Hamas, which denies Israel's sovereignty, took control of Gaza. However, Israel and its allies did not recognize the new authority, leading to the tightening of border restrictions and other measures, effectively blockading the area.

Thus the tension grew between Hamas and Israel's military. It led to 3 weeks of war killing 2,200 Palestinians and only 70 Israelis shot dead. The fight erupted over the kidnap of three Israeli youths by Hamas.
Adding salt to the injuries, the American President without discussing it with his Western allies in 2017 recognized Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. Several Arab and Western countries were annoyed at this move. Furthermore, the US no longer called Israeli settlements illegal on the occupied West Bank.
According to the United Nations article, U.S. President Trump diplomatically in 1920 had mediated the 'Abraham Accords' to normalize the ties between Israel and the Arab States and proposed a peace plan. But the nature of the plan dejected it to be proved by Palestinians.
In 2021 during the Holy month of Ramzan, the issue of the displacement of the East-Jerusalem living families of Palestine sparked into protests and violent forces cracked down against the Palestinian civilians. According to a news article Hundreds of Muslims were wounded. Later Hamas fired rockets into Israel as a reaction violence erupted.
In 2022 Aljazeera news article indicates the number of Palestinians killed in an air strike launched by Israeli forces including women and children and two commanders of the Islamic militant group. In response to that attack, they fired intensive rockets.
Then, the UN General Assembly in the year 2022 consulted the matter with the ICJ Advisory opinion based on the legal implication to halt the Israeli extension. In this regard, On the occasion of 75, the Anniversary of 'Nakba' GA adopted the resolution A/RES/77/23 pleading with the committee to commemorate.
2023 the latest sudden attack by Hamas shows the results of the years of tension of Israeli aggression. A news article describes it "On October 7 Hamas launched an attack with rocket strikes and a ground invasion removing the barriers of a security fence between Gaza and Israel with the fighters gunning down Israeli civilians and taking hostages including old people and children." Israel's government was surprised and responded heavily brutally destroying the hospitals and schools of the UN.
Until now to inflict massive punishment on them. the bombing campaign Israel is waging against the civilians. Intended to make them starve to death they called Palestinians "human animals". They talk about Gaza to 'flatten' and to 'eradicate' it to get greater Israel.
A US author Jon Mearsheimer a political scientist talking to Aljazeera TV said that America has the potential to bring this "bombing campaign " to an end. and has termed it a 'tragic situation' where the Arab elites are doing nothing remarkable apart from words of sympathy and censuring the Israel war crimes.
On 9 November 2023 according to an Aljazeera report quoting the words of UN Security Council spokesperson John Kerby, after two months of deadly fighting Israel began a pause or relief of 4 hours a day in bombing and a military operation called a" humanitarian pause" only for three days to evacuate the foreign nationals and to allow to move the civilians to a safe place as Israel is ready for ethnic cleansing of West Bank and Gaza. But it was not beyond the exchange of some hostages and prisoners captivated during the war.
